International students and students in a second degree program

Since the winter semester of 2017/18, international students in Baden-Württemberg have had to pay tuition fees of €1,500 per semester, while students in a second degree programme have had to pay €650 per semester. International students are students who are not nationals of a member state of the European Union or another state party to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (Section 3 (1) of the State Higher Education Fees Act).

Further information, including information on the possibilities of an exception or exemption from the fees, can be found here.

Please note that applications for an exception or exemption from tuition fees must be submitted before the start of lectures. The semester fees are always payable. Please note that if your library account is overdrawn by more than 20 euros, you will only be re-registered once you have settled your outstanding bills.

Under certain conditions, reimbursement of the fees is possible.
