Nobody builds a car or a refrigerator by themselves – in production processes there are always numerous people and various machines involved.This includes structuring operational activities, coordinating the distribution of the work to be performed by humans and machines, selecting manufacturing processes and planning production workflows.Here, quality assurance and the economic management of the business as a whole always play a vital role.

Our seven semester Bachelor's degree programme Production Engineering and Organisation (PO) offers you an interdisciplinary education providing you with the tools to meet these diverse and complex challenges.In this degree programme, engineering, business studies and organisation are combined with each other in a unique way.You will acquire knowledge about the natural sciences, design engineering and manufacturing, as well as about management, factory planning and logistics.You can use the practical study semester, elective modules, coursework and thesis to tailor your degree to your own interests.

You can also take this degree programme with the Ulm Model or with in-depth practical experience.

Prerequisites

You can apply for the degree programme Production Engineering and Organisation (PO) if you have an entrance qualification for a university of applied sciences, a subject-specific higher-education entrance qualification, a general qualification for university entrance or a comparable qualification.In addition, evidence must be submitted that a pre-study internship of 12 weeks' duration has been completed.You must have completed at least four weeks of thepre-study internship by the start of lectures in the first semester.You can complete the remaining eight weeks before the start of the main study period (start of lectures in the third semester).Applicants who have completed an apprenticeship or graduates of a technical secondary school (technische Fachoberschule or technische Gymnasium) may be completely or partially exempted from having to do the pre-study internship.

Furthermore, an interest in planning and project work is an important prerequisite for the degree programme and your later career.We are looking for multitalented individuals who are enthusiastic about technology and who are good with people.

Course schedule

The seven-semester course is divided into a basic study period and a main study period.In the basic study period, which includes all modules up to the end of the second taught semester, subjects such as mathematics, physics, engineering mechanics, materials science, design engineering, business studies, statistics and data processing are taught.You can use the practical study semester, elective modules, coursework and thesis to tailor your degree to your own interests.After completing the degree programme, you will be awarded the academic degree title “Bachelor of Engineering”.

Thanks to the breadth and flexibility of the degree programme, your career development will neither be tied to a particular industry sector, nor to a particular operational/functional area.Whether in the automotive and supplier industry, in machine building, plant construction or in consulting – after completing your studies, you can choose a career in purchasing, project planning, production planning or in assembly management, as well as in quality management, service or controlling. 

Engineering and organisation are significant factors for success when producing competitive products from innovative developments.Thanks to accelerated development cycles, new manufacturing technologies and, not least, globalisation, careers in production are dynamic, exciting and diverse, with excellent prospects.
