Hydraulic components are a key element for high-performance drives in globally-sought-after German machines and commercial vehicles.
Founded in 2012, the Hydraulics Center of Excellence is an institute funded purely by private means. The founding members committed more than one million euros over five years to create a platform for developing specialist hydraulics education and research, and to strengthen their own capacity for innovation. New member companies are welcome at any time with the stipulation that they must pay a fixed financial contribution annually. Currently the Center at Ulm University of Applied Sciences combines the hydraulics expertise of 17 companies in southern Germany: companies whose competitiveness depends to a large extent on qualified young employees with appropriate knowledge of hydraulics. The IHK supports this initiative with 50 000 euros annually. State-of-the-art laboratory equipment available for teaching and applied research at THU includes the valve test bench donated by Tries GmbH in our manufacturing laboratory and the mobile hydraulics test bench from Bosch Rexroth in the Automotive Center.
